Matt Talbert
Mayor
Matt Talbert has been Mayor of Sterlington since January 1, 2023. Matt spent 21 years in management for a local small business and served one term on the Town Council. He spent nine years in the Louisiana Army National Guard and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2003-2004. While in the service, Matt traveled to multiple countries and participated in state emergencies including hurricanes Lillie, Katrina, Rita, Ike, and Gustav. Matt completed his military service with three MOS’s (Military Occupational Specialties) in engineering. Matt previously served two terms as a deacon and on the Finance Committee at First West before becoming a member of First Baptist Sterlington, where he currently runs sound. He has served on various nonprofit and advisory boards both locally and nationally. Matt has been married to Melody for 20 years, and together they have a daughter, Mallory (16), and a son, John (9). In his off time, he enjoys the outdoors and BBQ.
